Notes: Bastien has been making mechanical based music since an early age, forming his own orchestra in 1986, composed of himself and his mecano based instruments driven by turntable motors. Since Pop he has released three full length albums and is currently touring. If you go to his website pierrebastien.com there are a few free downloads of his music along with some great pictures of some of his creations.

Notes: is a project involving Glenn Kotche of Wilco on vibraphone, small instuments and found sound, and Darin Grey on double bass, small instruments and found sound. just released their 4th full-length album, Extended Vacation on Dead Oceans. Kotche also releases work under his own name, the most most recent offering being the amazing Mobile on the Nonesuch label.

Notes: Ikue Mori plays electronics, Zeena Parkins plays electric and acoustic harps, and various synths and pianos. Mori used to be the drummer in the the no-wave band DNA, later she became interested in drum machines and electronics.
Zeena Parkins is a legendary harp player who has performed with the likes of Bjork, john zorn, Elliott sharp in the group Carbon, jim o’rourke, lee ranaldo and others. Her most recent solo album is called Necklace, released on Tzadik.

From: Seattle, they concentrate on environmental recordings and their use in avant garde sound art.

Notes: Tomoko Sauvage plays what she calls an “electro-aquatic” instrument, "waterbowls", porcelain bowls filled with water, hydrophones and electronics. Some metal wire and wooden spoons.

Notes: Suzuki began making sound art in 1963 with a performance at Nagoya station, in which he threw a bucket full of junk down a staircase. Since then he has been inventing instruments and performing sound installations all over the world. Recently he has become interested in iwabue – ancient and naturally sculpted stone flutes. Has since released Ki-date in 2009, this track puts me in mind of gamelan so I might do a gamelan show next week…
